About

Everyday is an amazing adventure (even the bad days) and I’m so thankful for this adventure I’m on. I spend part of my time on land, in the states, working/spending time with all those I love/paddle boarding/kayaking/traveling/eating pizza/drinking way too much coffee/and many many other things.  I spend the other part of my time on the worlds largest non-governmental hospital ship, in the beautiful, Africa. On the ship we provide free health care, community development projects, community health education, mental health programs, agriculture projects, and palliative care for terminally ill patients. When I began this adventure in with Mercy Ships in 2007, I took a 3 week medical trip to Benin and next a 3 week medical/work trip to Haiti in 2011. In 2013 I decided to go for a year. I met the ship in Guinea for the last few months of the 10 month field service. We finished up our time there and then sailed down to the Congo to begin our work there. Soon I will be joining the ship once more in Benin. My days in Africa are spent loving and taking care of the amazing people I meet every day on and off the ship. This adventure is not like anything I imagined, it’s so much more! I’m so glad that through this blog you can be on this adventure with me! 🙂
